Crozet

Let's head back to 1989, shall we?

LAS VEGAS, NV - I heard a song by a band that made me think of the theme song from 'Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan,' and I was instantly a fan.

I know. It sounds ridiculous. The theme song from a Friday the 13th film? Who remembers, nevermind liked such a thing. WELL ... I DID! And I still love it! Granted it's not as delicious as Alice Cooper's 'The Man Behind the Mask,' the theme song from 'Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives,' but it has a serious hair metal charm of it's own. It's called 'The Darkest Side of the Night' by a band called, like the city it's film took place in (well, the parts that weren't on a boat), Metropolis. A link to the song is below, if you're so inclined.

Then one day I stumbled across a band called Crozet, and they had a new song so good that I didn't even want to listen to their older music, because I wanted to hear whatever else they felt inspired to record - in that moment - as they did with that track. I could be way off base, but the song reminded me of that notoriously cheest theme song from 'Jason Takes Manhattan,' so in other words, it was absolute perfection.

A few years later, Crozet's second album Running Time was released, a lovely slab of 80s nostalgia, and it comes highly recommended by your friends at Ghostlife Industries. Now, fast forward to this week and I was surprised to see through a short series of newly released live videos that they are a darn good live band as well. Really good, in fact, and it prompted me to show a little love for this little unassuming band. Get your Crozet on, Ghostlifers.

Forever yours,
