Rosegarden Funeral Party

Is this the new Death In June?

SEATTLE, WA - That was my first thought when I saw this band name: this must be one of those truly depressing goth bands like Death In June, or anything by that crowd or scene or whatever they say these days. One track into their catalogue (I know, I’ve really studied them, yeah?) and I’m hooked. They’re “goth,” I GUESS, but I’d just say it’s more of dark pop, or something. Anyway enough of labels - what got me was the vocals. The lead singer would have been a star on some level back in the 80s heyday of goth popularity. There’s a bit of Siouxsie Sioux in her voice at times, but more than anything it’s Siouxsie’s delivery and strength I hear in this. Whatever happens to this band, it’s HER that needs to stick around.
